Is Today 70’s Day or Something?

It seems like everywhere I went today, there was 70’s music playing. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. It’s better than all 80’s all the time no matter what you new wave freaks say. But, the diversity of the music was really strange considering the locations.

First, in Target, I hear a bunch of disco stuff. Well, I guess that isn’t too surprising, but still. I hit the Barnes & Noble on Post Oak and heard the Eagles, “Stairway to Heaven” (WTF?) and a song by Kansas I hadn’t heard in forever.

I even mentioned to the clerk the odd song choices and he said that it depended on the manager what CD’s were picked. He said that some days, it was all 80’s. Yikes!

I stopped at Northwest Mall to have some baked ziti (yum) and they were playing 70’s stuff too. One disco song (can’t remember which – aren’t they all the same song?) then “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith – a little odd considering most malls try to pipe in soothing light jazz – and then “Jackie Blue!” Jackie freakin’ Blue by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. If we’re going there, where is “Witchy Woman” or “Green-Eyed Lady” or “Horse with No Name” or…I could go on like this…

You’re probably thinking, “Why the hell weren’t you are work you lazy bastard?” First, don’t call me a bastard. Second, I was taking a friend to the airport today (have fun, Angie!). Third, the beauty of technology means I can keep track of work from anywhere.

Plus, I got a cool atlas for my trip in August, kitty litter (the cats are thrilled) and a big book about cheap eats in the Houston area. Just what I need.

So, everyone should take this opportunity to boogie to the funky chicken. Shut yo mouth!
