I had a fun time in Corpus Christi over the weekend. I played some fun music with Paisley Close, took a ton of pictures and saw a movie. So, overall, a good weekend.
I literally took 250 pictures, so there will be additions to the gallery at some point.
I headed out Friday and was stuck in traffic, but managed to have a couple good phone conversations to pass the time. I got to Corpus by around 8pm and loaded my stuff into Cassidy’s Irish Pub on Water Street inside the Ramada. Very nice place – cool owners and a friendly bartendress. 🙂
Got in a good couple of sets and I went to Denny’s for some late night dinner. The room was a tad crowded and I got the roll-out bed. It actually wasn’t all that bad, surprisingly.
I was up by 8:30am and heading out to shoot pictures. After breakfast, I drove up to Rockport and made an accidental detour over to Port Aransas. It was worth it for this picture I took at the first light in town…
Hey, it’s FREE! How can you beat that?
I stopped off at the Texas State Acquarium in Corpus on my way back and wandered around. I haven’t been there in 7 or 8 years. Acquariums rule.
After a quick stop at the hotel, I took off to see Fantastic Four. The movie was so-so. The film didn’t make me that interested in the characters. I just didn’t feel invested in them, so I didn’t really care. But, the action was decent and Jessica Alba…well, let’s just say she is quite an attractive girl. Sheesh.
Got back and had some dinner with Rabbit and his wife, Hopi. Rabbit is taking over my duties with PC and played about half of each set on Saturday. For someone who picked up the bass only recently, he did a very good job. He should do just fine.
Leesa (the drummer) and I decided we’d had enough and wanted to drive back that night. Probably a good move as I wasn’t too interested in another night on the roll away bed. We got on the road by 12:30am and I was in bed by 5:30. Long trip, but I was glad to get home.
Now, another week of crazy with people bidding on repairs to my house and other repairs and installations. When July is done, so will all the house stuff. I’m looking forward to it.
