Ok, it’s been a while since I gave my weekend show recommendations. This weekend is choc full o’ good shows, so git out and see some pa’dnah! Sorry, Go Texan got me.
Oh, yeah, buy CD’s and stuff because we broke musicians need money to pay for our abject laziness…did I say that out loud?
Friday
John Evans Band
Meridian
Ramblin’ Boy CD Release Party
This will be my main choice for the evening. Evans’ roots are in rockabilly and country but he has expanded his musical palette quite a bit since then. His latest is loaded with 80’s-infused rock jams anchored by his signature rockabilly worble. Should be a fun show.
Ashbury Keys
Pub Fiction

Saturday
SkyBlue72 & Stacey Steger
Chances
Chances is a lesbian bar. There, I said it. But, don’t let that stop you from seeing two great female performers in Jessica Zweeback from SkyBlue72 and Stacey Steger. To quote George Costanza: “What is it about lesbians? They don’t like us. You have to respect them for that.” This should be a kick booty show…not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Sunday
Chris Whitley Tribute
Warehouse Live
Shawn Colvin, Charlie Sexton, Vernon Reid, DJ Logic, Doug Pinnick and more.
I had the priveledge of seeing what was Chris Whitley’s last moment on stage. In those 30 seconds before he just had no strength left to perform, he was better than 99 percent of most guys on their game. Nevermind the incredible line-up. Just go to remember a brilliant musician and songwriter.
