I’ll be in Killeen doing a gig tomorrow, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t all be out supporting live local music. There is plenty to see this weekend including a very good national show at Verizon Wireless Theatre this Friday night. Here are my recommendations…
Friday, June 17
Keane w/Regina Spektor – Verizon Wireless Theatre
I’ve been listening to the new Keane CD and they are great. Think a more melodic and less boring version of Coldplay. Spektor is a beautiful singer/pianist in the tradition of Tori Amos and Kate Bush. That should be a great show. Highly recommended.
DuneTX & Arthur Yoria – Rudyard’s
This is probably where I would be if I were in town. Arthur is a great musician and person. DuneTX rocks.
Sancho – Cosmos Cafe
I would be playing this gig if I weren’t going to Killeen. Artie Villasenor, the former guitarist from the Basics, called me to sit in because their bassist is working that night. They are great.
Vibe Committee – Last Concert Cafe
Pete Scafidi – Stag’s Head Pub
Norma Zenteno – Armadillo Palace
Leaf, Sevrin, Lonestar Pornstar, Morningside Drive – Fitz Upstairs
Saturday, June 18
Babes of Comedy w/Vatos Locos – Helios
A friend of mine from MySpace.com is one of the featured comediannes (Diane Cupps). I may or may not make it depending on how freakin’ tired I am, but this will be first choice.
The Buddhacrush, The Googe, Playing with Stars – Sidecar Pub
Moses Guest – Continental Club
Vibe Committee – McElroy’s Pub
So, get out there and see some live local music (and comedy) damnit!
