While I’ll be out of town Friday and Saturday, that doesn’t give anyone an excuse to bail on local music this weekend. There are plenty of excellent shows to see and I’ve even gone to the trouble of preparing a list for you. Aren’t I helpful?
Friday, April 1
Arthur Yoria – Rhythm Room (Washington Ave.)
My band orange is in will be playing with Yoria at Rudyard’s in a few weeks. He is a very talented singer/songwriter who has won quite a few contests with his stuff. This is a FREE show. Can’t beat that.
Los Skarnales – Fitzgerald’s (White Oak in the Heights)
Great Spanish ska band that has been around quite a while.
Pale – Rudyard’s (Waugh Drive)
Very good rock band at a cool venue.
Podunk – Sidecar Pub (Huffmeister Road)
Austin rock.
Southern Backtones – Helios – 411 Westheimer
Great rock band.
Saturday, April 2
The Buddhacrush & Vibe Committee – Rudyard’s
Good weekend for Rudz. My friends in Buddhacrush play some soulful rock and check out Vibe Committee. Very cool louge-y kind of band that reherses down the hall from me.
The Hollisters – Continental Club – Main Street
Country, roots rock of the finest variety.
House of Moist – Fitzgeralds Downstairs
Band that kind of reminds me of Kings X and Galactic Cowboys.
Tracy Conover – Dan Electro’s – 24th Street in the Heights
Great blues rock in the Heights. I know my friend Gary will be there and he has great taste in music, so check it out.
That’s what I know, but I’m sure there is more. There always is. So, get out there and support some live local music.
