Advertising v. Reality

I’ve decided to start a new category. It’s a lot like the Fox series Man v. Beast without the exploitation of animals or complete and total stupidity.

Christmas gives us plenty of examples of how advertising diverges so widely from reality, it is impossible to ignore. My latest is Jared Jewelers – the “Galleria of Jewelry.”

In advertising: “He went to Jared” means he’s the coolest, sweetest, most sentamentalist dude EVAR because he went to Jared.

In reality: No one gives a crap if you went to Jared and the woman you bought the crappy Jared pendant for would rather hear “He went to Tiffany’s.”
