I’ve never been one to get into tribute bands. I tend to like the original more. But, when confronted with a $15 cover to see Malford Milligan at Cosmos, my guitarist, Chris, and I decided we’d try our luck with Bonsfire at Rudyard’s.
This is an AC/DC tribute band with the caveat that they only do Bon Scott-era covers. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they were really good.
If you close your eyes, you would SWEAR the singer is Bon Scott. It was really uncanny. He also had nearly perfect pitch – rare for ANY singer, let alone a mimic. The rest of the band was solid, but I did note a few things the bass player did that were not true to the original. Personally, I think if you are going to tribute a band, do it JUST like the band did it. That’s just me.
Overall, pretty fun listening to TNT, Whole Lotta Rosie, Sin City, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Beatin’ Around the Bush and others. AC/DC rocks and Bonsfire isn’t bad either.
